Easy to moderately difficult to keep and breed beetle species suitable for beginners with experience with rose chafer beetles.
The beetles like it a little warmer at 22-28°C. However, room temperature is also sufficient.
The larvae need approx. 9-12 months to develop into beetles. Do not disturb them as soon as they turn yellow, as this is when cocoon construction begins.
Please ensure that the adult beetles have sufficient climbing opportunities, as it is difficult for them to stand up again on their own.
Distributed in many parts of Africa.
Ideal rearing substrate: Flake soil or leaf litter - generally drier than for other species.
The animals can grow up to 5 cm in size.
